It’s recommended to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to departure for domestic travel (within the United States) and two hours prior to departure for international travel.

TSA has a great resource for travelers who are planning ahead with their packing. Head to their “What Can I Bring?” webpage to do a search for any items you’re considering packing, and check whether they’re better to be checked or stored in your carry-on.

Be sure to read up on how to transport firearms and ammunition with TSA, and also contact your airline about its own rules.

For passengers who would like support during the screening process, TSA Cares is available upon request.

Per TSA, adult passengers 18 and older must show valid identification at the security checkpoints. For a full list of accepted identification, visit TSA’s acceptable identification list.

Once the REAL ID goes into effect, it will be required for air travel within the United States. The deadline to acquire the REAL ID is May 7, 2025.
